The Ratchet Hook is a heavy-duty, self-locking hanger for picture hanging systems. Made from aluminium, it slides onto compatible hanging wires to secure and level framed artwork, mirrors, or signage. The hook features an internal spring-loaded ratchet mechanism that automatically grips the wire when weight is applied, preventing accidental slipping. It is compatible with 2mm perlon and steel wires, supporting a maximum weight capacity of 15kg (approx. 33 lbs) per hook.

How to use the Ratchet Hook

Using the Ratchet Hook is incredibly straightforward. Follow these simple steps to hang your art perfectly every time:

Step 1: Thread the hook
Insert the bottom of your hanging wire (perlon or steel) into the hole at the top of the Ratchet Hook.

Step 2: Slide to adjust height
To move up, push the hook upward along the wire. You will hear and feel it click into place. It locks automatically, so you can let go at any height. To move down, press and hold the small lever on the side of the hook. This releases the internal lock, allowing you to slide the hook down to your desired position. Release the lever to lock it back in place.

Step 3: Hang your artwork
Carefully loop the hanging wire or D-rings of your picture frame over the front curve of the hook.

Step 4: Fine-Tune
Step back to check if it’s level. If you need a minor adjustment, support the weight of the frame with one hand, press the ratchet lever with the other, and slide it up or down millimeter by millimeter until it’s absolutely perfect.

Pro-Tip

For large, wide, or exceptionally heavy frames, use two wires and two Ratchet Hooks (one on each side). This distributes the weight evenly and makes it much easier to keep the frame perfectly level.
