You can use two rails of the same length to get a perfectly balanced and uniform hold for a standard item. Alternatively, you can use two or more rails of different lengths to securely fit and balance unusual or custom-sized items. This flexible approach makes it easy to secure frames, mirrors, or panels of any size. Rails are offered as singles.

Examples

These are just examples of how you could combine the lengths; they are not a list of what you will receive. You can mix and match rails of different lengths as you like, such as one 600 mm rail on the wall and three 50 mm rails on the item, or a 900 mm rail on the wall with a 900 mm rail on the item, or a 1200 mm rail on the wall and two 300 mm rails on the item. The only requirement is that all pieces must be the same profile (e.g., Boston).

Maximum capacity

Weight ratings apply strictly to the structural limit of the aluminium rails. In practice, wall anchors and fixings (screws, wall plugs, masonry anchors) almost always fail before the rail itself. Always ensure your chosen fixings and wall structure are rated to support the total weight of your item.

How to Install the Boston Z Bar Cleat

1. Measure & Cut (Optional): If required, trim the 2000 mm aluminium rail using a fine-toothed hacksaw or miter saw to match your frame width.
2. Drill Mounting Holes: Measure your wall stud centers or frame mounting points, and drill clearance holes through the aluminium rail using a standard metal drill bit.
3. Fix Wall Rail: Mount the first rail to your wall using appropriate screws and plugs, ensuring the open Z-channel faces UP towards the ceiling and is perfectly level.
4. Fix Item Rail: Secure the second rail to the back top edge of your picture frame, mirror, or cabinet with the open Z-channel facing DOWN.
5. Interlock & Hang: Lift your item slightly above the wall rail and lower it into place so the two Z-profiles interlock firmly.
